The Rich Mindset

If you’re broke, things that people consider small purchases can be an enormous problem for you:
  • Going out for meals and to bars
  • Paying light bills or the rent
  • Filling your vehicle with gas
  • Heading to the movies
  • Going on holidays
Thankfully, there is hope. In fact, developing wealth can be simple, and dare I say it, enjoyable, with a few simple steps. However, all these ideas will not matter if you do not alter your frame of mind.

The power of frame of mind.

If you’re broke, I have news for you: It’s all right. I’m not going to sit here and pontificate about how you ought to have “bought fewer lattes” and opened “more savings accounts.” Want to know why? Because that’s not going to do anything, since it’s absolutely nothing you have not heard a million times before. Instead, I want to help you look at the hardest part of developing a Rich Life: Altering your state of mind. That starts with dealing with “Unnoticeable Scripts”– the unmentioned “facts” we tell ourselves that are so deeply deep-rooted in our mind and culture that we don’t even recognize they exist. Some examples:
  • ” After high school, I have to go to college”
  • ” After college, I have to find a career at a business”
  • ” After I get a job, I have to get married”
  • ” After I get married, I need to have 2.5 kids and purchase a house with a white picket fence”
Sound familiar? If you take a moment to think about it, I wager you can develop some Inner Voice you have actually been following too. ” I was born poor so I’m always going to be poor.” ” A person like me might never ever make 6 figures a year.” ” My mom and dad never went to college and they turned out fine. Why should I go?” I get it. This might be difficult to hear– especially if you’re working several jobs and are struggling to make ends meet to stay up to date with your bills and rent. However, I need you to reframe: It’s actually liberating once you acknowledge your Inner Voice and recognize you do not need to follow them. Don’t be broke– do these 5 things instead Here are the 4 state of mindset shifts that you can utilize today that’ll help you get on your way to a Rich Life. They are:
  • Focus on what you can manage
  • Embrace a growth mindset
  • Invest purposely
  • Focus on the Big Wins
  • Make more cash
Let’s jump in:

Mindset # 1: Focus on what you can manage

You must always focus on what you can manage and put all the rest aside. When I was born, it became perfectly clear I would never ever play in the NFL. No problem. On the other hand, it was clear I would control the shit out of my schoolmates in spelling bees. Also cool. Then there were gray areas, like opening a business, managing my personal finances, being healthy, and learning to be much better in dating. I had to learn those skills and work incredibly hard. And guess what? I became successful at those things. Focusing on what you can manage while overlooking what you can’t is what separates the successful individuals from everybody else. For example, an unsuccessful person blames their financial problems on things out of their control, like the economy, political leaders, and the like. By contrast, a successful individual overlooks all of that and acts. They open a company, work at working out a business plan, and automate their financial resources so they can invest easily. Instead of giving up at the very first sign of failure and finding comfort in grumbling, a successful person rises up to the challenge. They’re not content with being a traveler in life. They want to be the captain of their own destiny.

Mindset # 2: Embrace a development mindset

Do you have a development state of mind or a shortage frame of mind? This question is very important due to the fact that it’s what separates the effective from the unsuccessful. A shortage state of mind is thinking that there’s a finite quantity you can make. It’s thinking that you only have so much money and you do not want anybody else to touch it. On the other side of that coin is a development state of mind. That’s the idea of believing that there’s no limitation to just how much you can make, grow, and obstacle yourself. Seriously. There’s no limitation to this. Let’s have a look at an example … Popular individual financing “guidance” includes a lot of cutting back to save. That indicates cutting down on lattes, cutting back on eating out, and cutting down on all the other things that make life worth living (I’m only half joking here). While cutting certain things out to conserve is necessary (more on that in a bit), there’s a limit to how much you can conserve. Assume you’re working a job that offers you $30,000/ year. We can then assume that each month you make about $2,500 in net earnings. After covering the rent, you may have $2,000 left. After utilities, you have $1,800. After groceries, you have a grand total of $1,600 left. That $1,600 is all that’s left for the month– and all that’s left for you to conserve. That’s your ceiling. Do you believe you’re going to save that whole $1,600? If you’re like the large majority of individuals, the answer is a definite no. Nevertheless, say you negotiate a single $5,000 raise at that job. When appropriately invested and diversified over twenty years, that can turn into a LOT of money. The very best part: That cash grows even LARGER the more you invest. Instead of fretting about what you already have, say to yourself: “I can grow more, I can find out more, and I can create more worth for myself and others.” POP QUIZ: Do you know how much you have readily available to spend this month? Even better: Do you know how much you invested in the past month? If you don’t, that’s all right– we’re going to alter that. Due to the fact that understanding just how much you have to spend is essential to developing wealth. It enables you to invest your money on the important things you enjoy, guilt-free. There’s a distinction between individuals who knowingly invest in things they love– even if they’re expensive– and individuals who just buy whatever they desire and handle the consequences later. In fact, it’s totally fine to spend extravagantly on costly things, as long as you do so consciously and invest/save at the same time. To make certain you’re actually being mindful about your spending, you need to spend on the things you love– while ignoring everything else.

Mindset # 3: The Big Wins are More Important

There are a handful of Big Wins in life where– if you simply get them right– you almost never have to fret about the small things. If you can concentrate on these seven Big Wins, rather than 50 little things, you can have an insurmountable edge in life. Here are the seven wins I recommend you deal with ASAP:
  • Automate your financial resources
  • Start investing early
  • Improve your credit rating
  • Land your Dream Job
  • Work out a raise
  • Earn money on the side (more on this later).
  • Negotiate your lease.
These wins will assist you infinitely more than the minutiae of eliminating $2 on a latte ever will. Don’t believe me? Let’s break down precisely how much a $2 latte will really save you. If you hold onto $2/day by making coffee at home, you’ll hold onto about $62/month. At the end of the year, that’ll equal to around $700/year. Okay … right? Probably not. $2/day isn’t a substantial adequate amount that you’ll really “see” the savings at the end of the month. And unless you’re physically putting aside $2 every day, you’re probably not going to invest it. Let’s assume instead you choose to negotiate your rent, like some of my readers have. You could wind up saving a lot of money every month. That’s just one Big Win too. When you nail all the others, you’ll begin to see the foundations of your Rich Life start to take shape in a very big way.

Mindset # 4: Making more on the side is much better than trying to conserve more.

Remember what I said in the part about the development frame of mind: There’s a limit to just how much you can conserve– but there’s no limitation to just how much you can make. And while you can make more by negotiating a raise or securing a higher paying job, I don’t think there’s a better way to make more money than by opening a side hustle. These are options and money-making systems you can have on the side along with your normal 9-to-5 job. And they’re wonderful since they’re: Quickly scalable, which means you can earn as much or as little as you desire. Versatile, which means you can work on them in tandem with another job. Excellent ways to do what you enjoy, which means you’ll get to integrate your passion AND generating income. There are a LOTS OF different methods you can generate income through a side hustle too. However the very best way is for you to utilize an ability you currently have. We all have knowledge and talents that we can easily leverage for a side hustle. Think about it. Do you:
  • Know a language? People will pay you to tutor them in foreign languages.
  • Write fantastic content? I can’t think of a single website out there who would not pay top dollar for an excellent copywriter.
  • Build computer system programs and apps just for fun? You can utilize those abilities to help other companies develop sites and apps.

Bottom Line

Take action, even if it’s imperfect action and you will see results from your efforts.
